Copper Ashton Accounting is built on a simple idea:

Business owners make better decisions when they feel clear, calm and confident about their finances. I created this practice for people whose work is shaped by uncertainty — developers, investors and built-environment professionals who juggle shifting timelines, cashflow pressures, pricing decisions and project-based complexity.
They need more than technical compliance.
They need structure, clarity and a guide they can talk to openly.
This is the space I work in.
A calm focused practice shaped by real experience in both accountancy and property.

My background

I’m Rob Vaughan, an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and Business Adviser. I spent more than two decades as a Partner in a regional practice, working closely with business owners across many sectors. It gave me a deep understanding of how financial clarity affects decision-making — and how easily uncertainty can creep in.
This experience changed the way I look at financial support.
Spreadsheets alone are never enough. People need context, understanding and a structured way to make decisions — not more noise.
In 2022, I stepped back from practice to focus on our own property business and create a better balance in life. Since then I’ve:
bought three blocks of flats, title-splitting two of them
managed multiple refurbishments
managed the freeholds
operated an Airbnb
handled the day-to-day realities of being a portfolio landlord
learned the emotional and financial pressures developers and investors face
deepened my understanding of small-scale property development
bought a commercial property (initially for conversion, now let)
worked remotely, including extended periods in Spain

Why I returned to practice

Working inside the property world revealed a gap: Many developers, investors and built-environment firms don’t have a calm, experienced financial partner to help them navigate uncertainty.

fewer have someone who explains the numbers clearly
very few have someone who offers structured guidance and strategic thinking
I didn’t return to recreate a large practice. I returned to build something smaller, more thoughtful and more personal — a focused advisory practice where I work with a limited number of clients and prioritise quality over volume.
